Metal Stud TV Mounting in Chicago & Chicagoland
Light-gauge steel framing is everywhere in Chicago — condo towers, apartment conversions, offices, medical suites and most commercial build-outs since the 1990s. From the outside it's identical to a wood-framed wall. Behind the drywall it behaves nothing like one.
A steel stud is a thin folded channel, not a solid post. The wood lag screws packed with a consumer mount have nothing to bite into, and a fastener that feels tight on installation day can slowly deform the steel until a heavy panel starts to sag.
Mounting to steel correctly means hardware engineered for it and load spread across more of the wall than a single stud. We identify the framing type first, choose the anchor system for your TV's weight, and load-test the mount before the television goes on it.
What's included
What you get with metal stud tv mounting
Framing identified first
We confirm steel versus wood before drilling, because the whole approach changes.
Engineered steel-stud anchors
Toggle systems rated for light-gauge framing rather than lag screws meant for lumber.
Load spread across the wall
Multiple studs engaged, with backing plates where a heavy or full-motion mount calls for it.
Full-motion capable
Articulating arms multiply leverage, so they get an anchoring plan sized for that pull.
Tested before handoff
Every mount is loaded and checked before your TV goes anywhere near it.
Condo, office and retail work
The framing type that defines most Chicago high-rise and commercial interiors.
